… McCain has changed positions more times than Jenna Jameson in a double feature. But not on important issues. Just stuff like privatizing Social Security, the Bush tax cuts, coastal drilling, ethanol, gay adoption, affirmative action, the estate tax, torture and negotiating with Cuba, Hamas, and Syria. But at least he stood firm in opposing the lobbying reform, campaign finance and immigration legislation written by… Senator John McCain (R-Hanoi).

This guy’s not a maverick, he’s a fucking weathervane.

In its broad strokes, McCain’s life story is oddly similar to that of the current occupant of the White House. John Sidney McCain III and George Walker Bush both represent the third generation of American dynasties. Both were born into positions of privilege against which they rebelled into mediocrity. Both developed an uncanny social intelligence that allowed them to skate by with a minimum of mental exertion. Both struggled with booze and loutish behavior. At each step, with the aid of their fathers’ powerful friends, both failed upward. And both shed their skins as Episcopalian members of the Washington elite to build political careers as self-styled, ranch-inhabiting Westerners who pray to Jesus in their wives’ evangelical churches.

In one vital respect, however, the comparison is deeply unfair to the current president: George W. Bush was a much better pilot.

P.S. Congratulations to Christine, aka my hetero life partner, who started volunteering at her local Obama office yesterday!

“Executive abilities? She doesn’t have any,” said former Wasilla City Council member Nick Carney, who selected and groomed Palin for her first political race in 1992 and served with her after her election to the City Council.

Four years later, the ambitious Palin won the Wasilla mayor’s office — after scorching the “tax and spend mentality” of her incumbent opponent. But Carney, Palin’s estranged former mentor, and others in city hall were astounded when they found out about a lavish expenditure of Palin’s own after her 1996 election. According to Carney, the newly elected mayor spent more than $50,000 in city funds to redecorate her office, without the council’s authorization.

Carney confronted Mayor Palin at a City Council hearing, and was shocked by her response.

“I braced her about it,” he said. “I told her it was against the law to make such a large expenditure without the council taking a vote. She said, ‘I’m the mayor, I can do whatever I want until the courts tell me I can’t.’”

“I’ll never forget it — it’s one of the few times in my life I’ve been speechless,” Carney added. “It would have been easier for her to finesse it. She had the votes on the council by then, she controlled it. But she just pushed forward. That’s Sarah. She just has no respect for rules and regulations.”

Republicans lowered my taxes, and will keep them low. But the value of my home has dropped 20%, my health insurance costs have doubled, gas costs $4 a gallon, and my investments are in the tank. Please, tax me.

Apparently I’m in the minority when I say that I wouldn’t mind if my taxes were raised. That is, as long as I’m getting a comparable service for my dollar. If my government would give me health care, child care, elder care – or just simply act like they care, well… I would gladly hand over more of my pay.

Horror stories about people dying in droves while waiting for treatment in a socialized health care system are nothing more than bunk to me. I’ve known more than one Canadian to tauntingly wave their health care card in my face. In fact, it’s not uncommon to hear of Michiganders that create counterfeit Canadian health cards and travel the 2 minutes across the border for treatment when they can’t afford health care here in the states.

That’s why all this talk about Obama raising taxes on the middle class means nothing to me… especially because it is also a bunch of bunk. I’ll pay more to a government that is willing to take care of me.

Dear readers, I have had a shocking and dramatic change of heart. John McCain and Sarah Palin have convinced me that overturning Roe v. Wade is a magnificent idea and we must pursue it at once.

John McCain particularly influenced me on this because he is a beacon of character standing up for the rights of the unborn. I’m positive he’s caught on to us miserable sluts having abortions willy-nilly and with the same frequency with which we sneeze. Obviously, we need to be stopped like the runaway trains of death we are. He is a very perceptive man. And, a maverick.

I am a maverick too. Thus, I have a plan~

To the women involved:

In the case of pregnancy by rape and incest, all I can say is, too bad lady – it’s not the baby’s fault and your uterus does not belong to you anymore. It’s a place for men to put sperm and public policy. Your body is to be referred to now as “The Uterus.” You will have and raise a baby born by rape, incest, reckless youth, impossible genetic defect be damned, by failed condom or pill you forgot to take. If you said “No” and he said “Yes” – well, that’s just the way he rolled. Congratulations to your uterus. Now plan a baby shower and get over it.

Now, in exchange for banning abortions entirely, I would like to address another part of human anatomy which is your dick, sir. Once you put your dick in a vagina and make a girl pregnant such that her uterus is engaged with your child, in exchange for outlawing abortions, you will be aware that the following will occur (which you won’t mind doing because you people love babies, respect life and embrace fatherhood whenever it comes to you as evidenced by the millions of father free children we have now):

So, that’s what I did to contribute to the campaign yesterday.

Today, I took some of that income that I made yesterday and contributed $25 to the campaign. It’s only 6:50 a.m. and I’ve already made a difference today. Rock.
